Barbeque Weenies

A party classic, these barbecue weenies are always a hit at movie nights, game days, potlucks and more. They are super easy to make, and you can’t beat how simple it is to just throw everything in the crockpot and forget about it!

Also known as cocktail weenies, lil’ smokies are small smoked pork sausage links. You can find them in the refrigerated meat section near hot dogs at most grocery stores. They are already fully cooked and ready to eat, but they are even more delicious simmered in a sweet and tangy sauce.

Whether you use cranberry or grape jelly, this recipe is easy and fast to put together. You can even swap out the sugar for dark brown or light brown sugar to add a little more depth of flavor to these appetizers. For extra zing, stir in some Worcestershire sauce for an added punch of flavor.

If you don’t have any cranberry or grape jelly, orange marmalade works great! It has a similar tart and citrusy flavor to the cranberry or grape jelly, but with a more subtle sweetness. You could even skip the sugar altogether and use a chili sauce if you prefer. Keep in mind, the cocktail weenies will be a little less juicy than when made with cranberry or grape jelly, but they’re still delicious! Serve with a side of your favorite dip and you’ve got an appetizer that will go quickly!
