Barbeque Vs Barbecue

Grilling is a summertime tradition, and there are few things that are more delicious than a well-cooked burger over a hot fire. But what many people don’t know is that “grilling” and “barbecue” are actually two different ways to cook. And if you use one of these methods incorrectly, it can ruin the meal and the experience.

The word barbeque is spelled two different ways, but the spelling with an A is preferred in most contexts, including by dictionaries (though some do recognize barbecue as a variant). And though the spelling with a Q has been gaining popularity over the years, it’s not used in the same way that “BBQ” is: it doesn’t mean anything other than that particular form of the word, and it doesn’t appear in any formally edited writing.

Whether you spell it with an A or with a Q, however, there’s no denying that barbeque is a delicious and enjoyable way to cook. It’s also a great way to spend time with friends and family, so get out there and enjoy a little backyard BBQ!
