This recipe for barbeque ribs in the crock pot is so simple that anyone can do it. The slow cooking process makes them so tender that they practically fall off the bone and the bbq sauce is deliciously tangy and sweet. This recipe is great for a weeknight dinner or a game day snack and the leftovers are fantastic for lunch the next day.
To start, season the ribs on both sides with salt and pepper. Then make the dry rub and coat both sides. Place the seasoned ribs in your crock pot with the meaty side against the inside wall of the cooker. Pour your bbq sauce over the ribs, then cover and cook on low for 6 hours. Using the slow cooker is a great way to make ribs because it is so much easier than cooking them in the oven or on the grill.
Use a High-Quality Barbecue Sauce
If you are going to make this recipe for barbeque ribs in your slow cooker, you have to use a barbecue sauce that you LOVE. This is key – use a sauce that is really flavorful, rather than one that just tastes “meh.” I recommend this homemade bbq sauce recipe (but feel free to use your favorite brand).
When the ribs are done cooking and the sauce is a bit thickened, remove them from the crock pot and transfer to a baking sheet. Brush them with more bbq sauce and place under the broiler for 3-5 minutes to caramelize the sauce.
