How to Prepare Barbeque Beans

Barbeque beans are baked or grilled bean mixtures. Traditionally, they contain white beans that are parboiled and cooked slowly in a sauce. In the United States, they’re also sometimes cooked with a sauce. Canned beans, however, don’t use a sauce but are cooked through a steam process. In the United States, most beans are roasted or broiled. If you’re planning to prepare them at home, make sure to follow the recipe carefully.

After soaking the beans, add a small amount of salt and cover the pot. Then, cook the beans gently until the skins start to break. Place the cooked beans in a large baking dish, with a layer of onion and meat, and cover them with water and molasses. Pour half of the barbecue sauce over the top, and bake for 4-5 hours. Once done, add the remaining barbecue sauce.

If you’d like to add some heat to your barbeque beans, try adding jalapeno peppers to the mix. You can also add ketchup and pre-made barbecue sauce, or simply season with seasoned salt. Regardless of the type, the sauce will become thicker and hotter as the beans cook. Then, serve them over a barbecue burger, or serve them on their own.
