With the Super Bowl looming, Frito-Lay is pulling out all the stops. In addition to the already announced in-game commercial with Charlie Puth and Megan Fox, the company is launching a separate spot with a mystery partner. PEOPLE can exclusively reveal that it will feature a star who is a fan of the brand’s new Doritos Sweet and Tangy BBQ chips.
The ad will show the star using a special triangle instrument to unleash a mind-blowing burst of flavor and demonstrate how this new snack is perfect for anyone who loves to “Try Another Angle.”
Ahead, we’re highlighting some of our favorite moments from the Doritos brand’s Super Bowl history. The brand’s first ad, aired in 1966, was titled “Toasted Corn,” and featured a young boy teasing his grandma with a bag of the tortilla chips.
In the decades that followed, Doritos would go from a single variety to a total of 21 different flavors, per Snack History. While some have been bigger hits than others (we’re looking at you After Dark Last Call Kebab and Collisions Chicken Sizzler Zesty Salsa), the company has never been afraid to experiment with its iconic snack.
Throughout the years, the brand has added to its line of flavors by adopting spicy food trends and embracing global tastes. And while its beloved nacho cheese and Cool Ranch may be its most popular varieties, the company has also introduced a variety of limited edition flavors.
