Start by making the pizza dough. Spread about a third of the barbecue sauce over the dough. Then, add chicken and top with mozzarella, gouda, and red onions. Bake until the center is cooked, and the bottom is browned. Serve with a side of fresh cilantro.
If you don’t have time to make the BBQ sauce from scratch, you can still create an excellent pizza with store-bought pizza dough. However, it may take a little longer to prepare the sauce and dough. Make sure to preheat the oven or preheat the pizza stone beforehand.
The barbeque sauce has a sweet, tangy flavor, which complements the meaty chicken. The pizza also has flavorful herbs like fresh cilantro and zesty red onion. It also features a soft crust with crispy edges, and a layer of ultra-cheesy mozzarella cheese.
For this barbeque chicken pizza, you will need about one cup of chopped cooked chicken. You can also use leftover BBQ chicken or shredded chicken. Be sure to toss the shredded chicken with barbecue sauce before layering.
